Contraception And Pregnancy
It is not necessary that it is every couple’s wish to conceive. In addition, many a time, couples may want to conceive but only at the right time with proper planning.
It is true that the most common method used to prevent an unwanted pregnancy is contraceptive pills. However, this places the entire burden of contraception solely on the woman. That doesn’t sound fair, does it? Moreover, women are likely to forget or miss their daily dose of pills even when they are sexually active.
Hence, alternative methods of stopping pregnancy are necessary to follow. Let’s take a look at some of them!
Methods To Stop Pregnancy After 1 Week Naturally
Foods to stop pregnancy after 1 week naturally
Foods that prevent pregnancy after 1 week naturally have little scientific research on their side but plenty of anecdotal evidence. Pregnant women are recommended to consume fruits like Papaya and figs and dry fruits like Apricots for 3-4 days, twice a day after sexual intercouse with their partner.
Note: Many believe that Papaya, when consumed by your male partner has the tendency to reduce sperm count, further minimising chances of pregnancy.
Note: Here is an apricot concoction you can try to stop pregnancy after 1 week:
- Boil about 10 gms of dried apricots in one cup of water
- Add two tablespoons of honey to this mixture
- Drink up!
This drink has shown results for some women but may not work for everyone.
Fertility tracking method to stop pregnancy after 1 week naturally
This method involves the measurement of the cervical mucus and basal body temperature of women. These are easy trackers with which women can monitor their own body.
But why?
The ovulation period is the most fertile time of a woman, with the highest chances of pregnancy. On the days leading up to the ovulation period, the basal body temperature of women is on the rise. It is highest on the day of ovulation. Tracking your temperature and abstaining from sexual intercourse during this period can reduce the chances of pregnancy.
On the days leading up to ovulation, a jelly-like cervical discharge is produced by a woman. Tracking the consistency of your cervical mucus and abstaining from sexual intercourse during this period can reduce the chances of pregnancy.
Withdrawal method to stop pregnancy after 1 week naturally
The withdrawal method is when the man inserts his penis into the vagina during sex but ‘pulls out’ just as he is about to ejaculate. However, research suggests that this method is not 100% effective and may still cause an unwanted pregnancy.
Avoiding the fertile period to stop pregnancy after 1 week naturally
The fertile period of a woman is said to occur before the 8th day and after the 20th day of her menstrual cycle. If this fertile period is avoided, there are higher chances of stopping a pregnancy.
However, it is important to note that every woman’s menstrual cycle is unique. Hence, this method may not work in favour of all couples.
The Bottom Line
The above mentioned methods to stop pregnancy after 1 week naturally are not entirely effective. Even today, the best ways to prevent an unwanted pregnancy is by using a condom, and beginning a consistent course of medical contraception. Please do not take any medicines or begin a contraception course without consulting your gynaecologist.
