You might be wondering how fenugreek benefits hair. As per studies, Fenugreek seeds are a rich source of Vitamin A, Vitamin K, Vitamin C, Potassium and Iron. They are considered essential elements for hair growth.

Not only this, fenugreek seeds contain high protein and nicotinic acid content. Further, they are rich in antioxidants and contain anti-inflammatory properties that are known to be beneficial against hair fall, dandruff, dryness of hair, baldness and hair thinning.

It also has lecithin, which can hydrate hair follicles and strengthen hair roots, thus promoting healthy hair.

How to Use Fenugreek for Hair Growth?

You can take Fenugreek seeds orally by including them in your diet or try applying Fenugreek Oil to your hair. You can also try a Methi hair pack or drink fenugreek water for hair growth.

Who can apply? Everyone, men and women of all ages can use it. Generally, it is beneficial for all hair types, be it dry-damaged hair, curly hair, or straight hair. You can even apply it to oiled hair.

How to apply? It can be applied as a paste or oil, depending on your hair type and the efforts you want to put in.

How to Make Fenugreek or Methi Oil?

You can make the oil by 2 procedures:

1.  Add half a cup of Fenugreek seeds and two cups of coconut oil or olive oil in a double boiler. Warm it for five to ten minutes. Let the oil infuse in it. Strain the oil after it gets cold. And use the Methi oil.

2.  Take a clean jar. In it, put some fenugreek seeds and coconut oil for hair growth. Leave it for three to four weeks. Let the oil get infused in it. Now strain the oil and use it.

Note:

  • Using both methods, you can store Fenugreek Oil or Methi Oil for one month.
  • If you have very dry, dull hair, you can also use almond oil or avocado oil.

How to Make Fenugreek or Methi Paste for Hair?

Here’s how you can make Fenugreek paste for hair:

  • Soak two tablespoons of Methi seeds overnight in water.
  • Grind it to a fine paste in a mixer.
  • Mix with one spoon of olive oil or coconut oil.
  • Apply the paste on hair roots and hair shaft.
  • Keep it for twenty minutes.
  • Rinse it with mild shampoo and apply conditioner.

Note: You can add lemon drops to the Methi paste for dandruff and itchy scalp.

How to Make a Fenugreek Methi Hair Mask?

Follow the steps given here to make yourself an ayurvedic hair mask using methi seeds:

  • Take 2 tablespoons of fenugreek seeds and grind them to make a powder.
  • Add the powdered methi seeds to 1 spoon of olive oil.
  • Apply it to the scalp for 20 minutes.
  • Rinse it off using warm water with a mild shampoo.

Note:  This Methi hair pack gives deep conditioning to the hair. You can also add yoghurt, honey and milk for nourishment.

How to Make and Use Fenugreek or Methi Water

Follow the steps given here to make Methi water for hair growth:

  • Soak two tablespoons of Fenugreek seeds overnight in a bowl of water.
  • The next morning, boil it by adding another bowl of water.
  • Cool it down and strain the water.
  • You can directly spray the water on the roots using a spray bottle.
  • Keep it for 4-5 hours or overnight.
  • Rinse it off with mild shampoo.

Note: Strained fenugreek seeds can be used to make an ayurvedic hair mask.

How Often to Use These Home Remedies?

You can use these home remedies twice a week to get healthy, dandruff-free, shiny hair.

Methi for hair doesn't have any side effects. But, research shows, people allergic to peanuts or chickpea and pregnant women should avoid this. It can promote contractions in pregnancy.

Also, note that these remedies will show little or no impact on hair fall due to hormonal imbalances, genetic predisposition, and other such causes. In these cases, you should consult a specialist.
