Step 1Reduction in swelling
Nicotinamide, a vitamin B(3) derivative, exerts anti-inflammatory and antioxidative properties in several cell types by interaction with various intracellular signalling proteins via modulating the activity of various transcription factors.
Step 2Unclogs pores & clears acne
BHA is oil soluble; it penetrates the epidermis in to clear excess oil and other substances that clog pores and thereby helps clear acne.
Step 3Reduction in acne size
Glycolic acid (AHA) also reduces the calcium ion concentration (dead skin cells) in the epidermis and removes calcium ions from the cell adhesions by chelation. This results in the reduction of acne size.
