Chyawanprash Benefits for Women

With every season switch, there is a change in our health. The body also undergoes modifications to match up to the environmental changes surrounding it. Have you ever wondered how beautifully Mother Nature has planned different foods based on seasonal changes?  These foods make sure that even though there are seasonal shifts around us, our health is not impacted by them. Thinking of this reminds us of just one very common food our mothers used to feed us as the season shifted. “Chyawanprash”. A spoonful of Chyawanprash was mandatory along with the breakfast.

Chyawanprash is an Ayurvedic Jam that is packed with nutrients and health benefits. It is a mixture obtained after cooking different foods, herbs, and spices. The preparation is based on the instructions as per the ancient science of Ayurveda. A sage named ‘Chyawan’ consumed it for 40 days and did 40 mins of meditation post the chyawanprash consumption at 4 in the morning. ‘Prash’ means to eat artfully.

The main ingredient of chyawanprash is Amla. Hence, it is a very good source of Vitamin C. Other than Amla it has sugar which helps to give it a jam-like consistency. It also includes Honey, Ghee, Sesame oil, Triphala, Cardamom, Cinnamon, Saffron, Pepper, Sandalwood, Tulsi, Neem, Brahmi, Jatamasi and Ashwagandha, to name a few.

All of these herbs and spices in balanced combination helps to give chyawanprash its typical odor, taste and makes it one of the best Ayurvedic formulas to support and sustain health.

As I said, it is a rich source of Vitamin C, which helps in boosting immunity. Is this the only benefit? Of course not. Read on to find more:

  1. It helps to improve digestion.
  2. It helps to improve respiratory health.
  3. It improves heart health.
  4. It slows down the ageing process.
  5. It helps to improve fertility and libido in both men and women.
  6. It helps in improving skin health
  7. It helps in weight management
  8. It helps to keep the mind strong.

The best part about including Chwayanprash in your daily routine is there is nothing like a specific age group that can consume it.  It can be consumed by kids and adults alike. But it is recommended that you talk to an expert so you know the exact dosage. It preferably can be consumed with warm milk in the morning or before breakfast.

There are no side effects as such when it comes to Chyawanprash, but it is good to consult an expert beforehand. For diabetics, it is recommended to avoid eating Chyawanprash due to its high sugar content. For pregnant and breastfeeding mothers, it has to be consumed after a doctor's recommendation. For some, it might lead to loose motions, bloating, or acidity.

I am sure almost everyone has tasted this elixir. If not, go and try it out and start including it in everyday life to avail of its optimal benefits. But do consult your doctor or an expert if you have any medical issues or if you are under specific medications.
